How to repair password-protected PowerPoint file

Microsoft Office suite provides us a presentation program which is used to create presentations by educators, students, and trainers for school/college project reports, e-learning tutorial content, etc.It makes the presentation so user friendly that helps presenter to explain the presentation to the audience in a quite interesting manner. To make the presentation highly interactive, you can use text, colors, images, audio/video files, WordArt objects, animations, etc. What if the the presentation gets corrupted , there could be various reasons for such damages such as virus infections, human errors, power fluctuations, abrupt system shutdown, etc. In such cases, appropriate actions should be taken to resolve these issues. However, if you are unable to do so then you should use a third-party PowerPoint recovery application to recover PowerPoint file.

Consider a scenario wherein you are working on a PowerPoint 2007 file for your college project. When you open the file on a system, having PowerPoint 2000, in your college for a final check, you are unable to do so. An error message is displayed, that can be either of the following error messages:
“PowerPoint can't open the type of file represented by path/filename.”
“PowerPoint can't read path/filename.”

Cause:
  • There could be following reasons for this error message:
  • The PowerPoint presentation is password protected. The versions earlier than PowerPoint 2002 cannot open the password-protected files.
  • The PowerPoint presentation is corrupt and, thus, inaccessible.
Resolution:
To resolve the issue, you should perform the following steps:
  • Open the file in PowerPoint 2007.
  • Type the password, and then click OK.
  • Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to Prepare, and then click Encrypt Document.
  • In the Encrypt Document dialog box, delete all the text in the Password box, and then click OK. Now, you can open the file in any version of PowerPoint.
However, if you are still not able to address the issue then the file is corrupt. In such cases, you should use a third-party ppt recovery tool to repair corrupted PowerPoint file. Such read-only tools use fast yet sophisticated algorithms to scan the damaged area.
